So last year I got covid in July and then ?virus in November just after I was starting to feel better and managed a few 20min low intensity yoga and bike sessions
Here the impact on #HRV
(Higher hrv = better)
@scullingmonkey I’ve been battling similar low HRV that has occasionally been just in balance for a few days. But if i overdo things then it quickly drops and stays low for a while. What seems to be ok at the minute is doing 2 steady and flat spins on the turbo trainer well spaced during the week. They are nothing like i used to do but they are something. My FTP pre 1st infection was 240w it got back to 220w & after the second infection it’s just crawled back to 165w #LongCovid
@scullingmonkey I appreciate wearable tech and HRV isn’t really diagnostic and as my GP says, they don’t usually pay much attention to it but this is one bit of data that shows the impact of CVOID for me. Every other test comes back “within normal limits”. Yet I’ve gone from running marathons and training 5 days a week, to hardly being able to function on a bad day. Strava fitness was 84% before first infection. I only got back to 45% before the second one. I’m now at 11%
@BruceBee I think the apple products especially are very well in recording stuff. Not sure what diagnostic test the gp wants, there is none. And this correlates with my symptoms as an objective measure.
And I say this as someone who did part of their PhD developing a diagnostic test for a new disease
@BruceBee lol my bike ftp is 30% of what it was pre long covid
@scullingmonkey I hope that improves for you too. I’m using MyWhoosh and I’m taking it with a pinch of salt as I think it’s not as accurate as Zwift and I could be weight doping at the moment I’m avoiding Zwift as I don’t want to bump into folk on Zwift at the minute as I know I’ll try to push it when I shouldn’t
@BruceBee ugh I know. My zwift is suspended atm too
@scullingmonkey When you do start to spin again, try MyWhoosh app. It’s free, the down side is that there is only one free ride route at the minute, but it is reasonably flat/rolling.
@BruceBee will do! Sounds good
@scullingmonkey Aparently there are now more worlds to free ride in now too
@scullingmonkey I have a Garmin watch & I’d agree that the data does correlate to how I feel. My GP is interested in the data as I’ve lots going back pre first infection and it does drop like a stone after each infection. He just said that generally HRV wasn’t something that was used as it wasn’t diagnostic, but I’m delighted he was interested and wanted to look at it. Garmin body battery score can be indicative too, but isn’t always a good a predictor, so I’m cautious with it.
