Vaccination partially protects against Long Covid. Study found that "in a population completely vaccinated, long COVID is nearly 21% less frequent than in an unvaccinated population."

@rchusid A 16-21% reduction in risk is quite small.
@brianvastag Small but not meaningless. Obviously we need better vaccines and treatments.
So, 1 in 5 vaccinated people who catch COVID anyway and would've gotten long COVID, don't?
That's not so very impressive, but I'll take any advantage over the virus I can get.
@Frances_Larina I wish I could give a bigger number but all I can do is report on the research which is done. We need better vaccines and drugs, but in the meantime people should be vaccinated and take whatever protection they can get. Plus this shows that a vaccine-only approach is insufficient.
I agree. And unlike UCSF's Dr. Bob Wachter, my spouse & I still avoid eating at indoor restaurants & events & mask for the grocery store. But then, we really don't want to get sick; we don't seem to be able to shrug off the idea of being careful like nearly everyone else has done.
