@nilikm I’ve been following you on Twitter for quite a while. I’m glad you are also on Mastodon. I’m Jewish, and trans, and work in healthcare with trans youth and young adults. I appreciate your strength and determination amidst the threats and abuse thrown at you. With all your evidence, I don’t understand why the Ottawa police won’t get involved. Even though we don’t know each other, I am concerned about your well-being. This shouldn’t be happening to you. It’s not okay.

@nilikm This is absolutely beyond the pale. What actions are Ottawa police taking? My God - I’ve faced plenty of abuse as a woman politician, but never anything this frightening.
@Paulatics @nilikm Sadly, and I suppose not unexpectedly, I expect the answer to be little-to-nothing.
@Paulatics there is nothing more that police can do; the threats are sent anonymously and whoever is behind them could be in Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Texas - anywhere. Untraceable. The level of threat is disproportionate to the little power a trustee has, but it is sadly what women in leadership roles at all levels have been dealing with around the world (and school boards don’t have the built in security of other levels of politics, so we are an easy target)
