It's concerning that some are trying to normalize and find "common ground" with RFK. Let's be clear: You can never find common ground with someone responsible for the death of children because they deliberately spread anti-science misinformation.

@luckytran “there’s no reasoning with unreasonable people”

@luckytran
A post doc in my lab is convinced RFK heading the NIH is a good thing because we'll get more funding because RFK said he wants scientists to research chronic illness. Our lab doesn't even focus on chronic illness! And that's before we even talk about the medical misinformation RFK spreads!

@luckytran I'm not a fan of RFK Jr. and I know he's anti-vax, but I'm curious what has RFK Jr. done to cause death of children? (Not defending him, just curious since I don't know)

@kurohana being anti-vax results in children dying, fairly directly

@swift Fair enough. I did some research as well and found:

Kennedy has repeatedly made false claims about vaccines, including:
- Stating "There's no vaccine that is safe and effective"
- Falsely claiming vaccines cause autism, a thoroughly debunked theory
- Incorrectly calling the COVID-19 vaccine "the deadliest vaccine ever made"
- Encouraging parents to resist CDC recommendations for childhood vaccinations

@luckytran RFK Jr. and I have a smidgen of common ground. We're both products of Greenwich, CTs Catholic community. His parents were married in the same church where my family does many of its weddings and all of its funerals. St. Mary's on Greenwich Avenue.

@luckytran One of my favorite quotes: "You can't make sense of crazy."

@luckytran
And you definitely shouldn't *want* to find common ground with someone like that.
