@luckytran I had the measles when I was a kid. It was no joke. Even after the infection is gone it’s kind of like long COVID. I was very tired, weakened immune system, and ended up with Scarlet fever soon after. Took months to recover. So that school year was shot. This anti-vaccinations nonsense is inconceivable to me.
@luckytran Crazy thing is he tries to deny this by claiming that low vaccination rates were not caused by him - which means that he recognizes vaccination would have prevented the outbreak.

@luckytran I just hope that mostly republicans will follow his lead and so reduce the number of fascists.

@luckytran But the media wouldn't ever write a headline to the effect of "RFK Jr Helped Kill 83 People." Instead even the more critical things are "How RFK Jr. Falsely Denied His Connection to a Deadly Measles Outbreak in Samoa" (from Mother Jones; https://www.motherjones.com/politics/2024/07/how-rfk-jr-falsely-denied-his-connection-to-a-deadly-measles-outbreak-in-samoa/). This sort of normalization and lack of finger-pointing is what lets them grow and thrive.

@luckytran I would say it’s not just misinformation, but DISinformation. The former is mistaken information, the latter is intentionally fabricated & disseminated with destructive, dangerous intent. The first is a blunder, the second is weaponization.

@Agora @luckytran there is no conspiracy. He and his ex-wife killed people with misinformation. Very straightforward.
@illyaking @Agora @luckytran I don't think there's a disagreement over what happened, but rather an observation over how some people ( anti-vaxxers ) interpret the world around them.
@luckytran The HHS agency, which leaked a memo in 2018 that explored legally defining gender as sex at birth, which would invalidate the ID's of trans people. For example, the passports they'd use to try and flee the country.
Got a feeling that won't just be a leaked memo pretty soon.
