At the start of COVID, the government implemented many social programs that helped people who were struggling. These programs were immensely popular.

Yet instead of fighting hard to extend and expand them, Democrats prematurely declared the pandemic was over and let them expire.

Dr. Lucky Tran :verified:

Continually stating that things were "back to normal" as many were continuing to struggle with their health, to pay their bills, to afford the essentials etc., was a complete messaging failure.

@luckytran Although, to be fair, “continuing to struggle with their health, to pay their bills, to afford the essentials etc” is EXACTLY how this country was before COVID, so pretty “normal” as far as dysfunction goes.

I saw a thread on Twitter from Jason Furma, Obama's economic advisor, pointing out--correctly, this week--the many economic indicators that sank the Dems' campaign this year. The problem is that Furman was one of the a-holes predicting a V-shaped recovery in 2021 and advocating for all special measures to be cut off to avoid heating up the economy. He was so wrong and damaging to the cause.

The Biden economy at the moment is great, by Republican standards. All the macro figures look fine and he even invested in manufacturing which may pay out in Trump's term. But the macro numbers don't address the hurt in people's pockets. All of these measures did that. All of these packages are like stars in the sky, forming two constellations named UBI and Universal Healthcare.
