@luckytran yes but it should also be routinely tracked, at minimum the RFT positives. The quality of data we have available, beyond some wastewater signals in the US, has been spotty since at least 2021.

@luckytran

healthcare should be free but Dems chose Biden over Bernie.

@luckytran *any* test for *any* infectious disease should be free. (Even on US-style capitalist dystopia)

Shit, if you peg pos, you should get a cash reward. "Thank you for being concerned!"

@luckytran

You can thank Addison "Mitch" McConnell for that, along with his "party of obstruction whenever there's a Democrat in the White House" (direct quote).

@luckytran just bought 4 tests at Walgreens (US chain pharmacy) for $48.

I'm sure the manufacturers of tests were extorting the government when we got "free tests" and now they're extorting us directly.

@luckytran yes!

btw my local library still passes out free tests if you ask, when they have them. they have stopped putting out signs advertising this however

not sure how widespread this is (Montgomery county, MD)

@dannotdaniel @luckytran
Same in Los Angeles, free from the libraries.

@luckytran Our county library branches stock them for free, as does the nearby #Baltimore City Pratt Library (with an in-stock counter).

@jspath55 @luckytran Wow. Equipment rentals, maker spaces, now disease testing? It's like libraries are setting up to become the last bastion of civilization! (I mean this in a good way, jic.)

@luckytran healthcare should be free, as well as education. Billionaires can easily cover these expenses.

@jeffmcneill @luckytran Yes, for as long as it's from taxes and not donations.

@Murdoc @luckytran Yeah, they are a bit slow on the donations, so gotta tax them, or simply nationalize companies with billionaire owners.

@jeffmcneill @luckytran Even more than that, charity money from billionaires sets the tone that billionaires should be the ones to decide who gets the money, rather than governments, which are at least potentially working on the behalf of the people.

@luckytran so should a basic level of healthcare

@luckytran

And should be better than lateral-flow RATs that were designed and tested on the original strain.
