Dr. Lucky Tran :verified:

"lf a person refused to (unmask), that right there should cause you some sense of alarm."

NYC Mayor Eric Adams continues to encourage businesses to request customers to unmask. This is ableist, puts people's health at risk, and is NOT required by law.

@luckytran eye roll 🙄 watch me grift for capitalism again Adams

@luckytran This has nothing to do with preventing crime and everything to do with making people forget about COVID and get back to "business as [used to be] usual" at any cost.

People wearing masks remind other people that COVID is still around. That makes us want to rush through our shopping and get out quickly, instead of lingering and buying more stuff. COVID also made WFH a thing, and that is not going to go away. The robber barons don't like that. Their commercial real estate is tanking.

@luckytran I got asked by a nice elder with whom I serve on a town board. (also on the board is my primary care physician, who no longer masks.) I had time to explain to her. I think I'm catching some vibes in the grocery store now too. I'm thinking that my answer is going to come in the inverted pyramid, with my first response being: I'm committed to reducing risk, both yours and mine. 1/2

@luckytran The doc saw me in my annual this week, tried to talk me into RSV, COVID, and pneumococcus vaxes, pitching them with, "An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure." He's 10 yrs. younger than me. I pointed to my mask and said, "Ounce of prevention." 2/2

@Bon_Jardin @luckytran I find mentioning "My mask protects you, your mask protects me." not only illustrates the point, it also leaves hanging the idea that while I'm working to keep them safe, there is the option to do more if they choose to.

@luckytran I will 100% leave your business and never come back if you do this.

@luckytran
How did NYC wind up with a Nazi as mayor? I think we're seeing that Black people will vote for a Black candidate no matter what the candidate's political position, just like white people do.

@luckytran I do not want your disease or to give you mine dummy Mayor!

@luckytran

Hey Eric! If someone doesn't want to remove their mask, it DOES tell you something:

They. Don't. Want. To. Catch. Covid!

(Repeatedly edited to remove foul language)

@luckytran Adams is such an ass! But what can you expect from a cop who surrounds himself with his criminal cronies.

@luckytran "you should be afraid of your neighbors, of your friends and of your own family. you should distrust them. but never distrust your government, your business leaders, or your justice system"

@luckytran Remember, only cops are allowed to hide their identities. Facial recognition and fuck you for everyone else.

@obsolescentsapien @luckytran

That is a very strong point.

I'm not sure what the #1a and #freespeech legalities are.

Myself, I'm mixed on whether disguises should be legal.

@luckytran guess I’m not visiting anytime soon

@luckytran - take a look at the new North Carolina laws about mask wearing in public.

@aby @luckytran it's not a new law yet, thank heaven. It only got halfway through the leg before they tabled it due to the pushback.

@Tarheel - I'm Australian, so I don't really have a sense of things there other than what I see in the media and talking with friends who are in the US.

Do you have a sense of whether it'll pass?

@luckytran

@aby @luckytran It could pass, as they have a supermajority, and could overrule a veto as well. It had passed one house and was headed to the other, where it was sure to pass. My feeling is they thought it would cost them their seats. I have not seen a full explanation and haven't had the spoons to seek one out.

I am only surprised Georgia, Florida, and Texas haven't already tried it.

@luckytran Shoe certainly is on the other foot for the pro-mask folks now, isn't it?

🤔 They do have the right to wear what they want in public though, by the first amendment, so they should be allowed to wear masks.

@luckytran "The covid may have protected us from the spread of the disease" 🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️🤦🏽‍♀️

@luckytran At this point I'm masking as a 'fuck you' to Eric Adams.

@Andres4NY @luckytran We should be allowed to mask for a variety of reasons - health, privacy, religious modesty, or to send a 🖕🏽 to Eric Adams.

@atthenius @rejinl @luckytran Damn, nice 50% off deals on the masks. Usually Posh masks are $2-3 each.

@Andres4NY they have super deals… and they’re in Ft Lee so regular delivery is nearly next day.

@luckytran
Eric Adams is turning out to be an incredible idiot. I think he's very bad for NYC.

@luckytran WTF?

I'd rather pepper spray someone than,comply with such a facist demand..
