Dr. Lucky Tran :verified:

We really need to make vaccine selfies a thing again because only 3% of people in the US have gotten their COVID booster vaccine so far this season.

@luckytran I will never not take a selfie. As a high risk person with LC, I still feel like every booster is a miracle. I miss the glitter band aids from the early days — but this will do.

@saralobkovich @luckytran
Hey! I had the shot and never got a bandage at all. No fair.

@luckytran I have friends in Canada who are trying to get vaccinated but are being turned away because they’re not considered high risk.

@luckytran I'm getting mine tomorrow, after donating blood.

I didn't attempt to get it before because that would have pushed back the window for donation several weeks, and the pool of people who can and are willing to donate has shrunk considerably in the past three years and change--and is likely to keep shrinking, as donors get sick, thanks to the "it's over" propaganda they get from everyone, and not masking in donation centers.

@luckytran

I got mine last Saturday! I live in a rural area, and it took a long time for booster supplies to get to us.

@luckytran

To be fair, we just had/are completing a pretty big wave that got a lot of people who won't be boosting for at least 3 months now. Plus the rollout was awful, people awaiting Novavax still can't find it in many places, and I even had to pay out of pocket for it. So many things stacked against people too.

@luckytran Lest we forget they cost about $100 for a lot of folks.

@luckytran got mine along with the flu shot for good measure.

@luckytran I got mine at the end of September and took a selfie! (The bandaid says "flu fighter," but it was definitely a COVID shot.)

@ARandomPotato It's a GVS Elipse (source control model)! It has p100 filters (an upgrade from disposable n95s), and I've found breathability and speech clarity to be very good! It could be more comfortable, but I mostly use it for medical appointments which are relatively short.

@kcarrandale @ARandomPotato
I bought it too and had a very different experience. If I could have a do over I'd get it with the exhaust valve. Within 20 minutes on a flight there was more than a teaspoon of liquid in there. Had to swap out to an N95. Not for all day use.

OTOH, I intimated everyone in Gotham even though they couldn't understand what I was saying.

@luckytran
I got mine, my husband got his and we both got flu shots. Very little if any side effects.

@Groundsel @luckytran Same here. Boosters are so routine for us we don't take selfies anymore. But here is my original pic from January 2021, next to "Dr. Fauci". (Please excuse the chemo hair, it was still growing back.)

@luckytran ...masking is not been done ..yesterday was only 2 people and I was one of them...in my travels...and yet hospital is full of these patients...

@luckytran My wife has been trying to find one for us and our boys. There was a shortage locally and we couldn't find any. I think the shortage is ending, though. Now, it's just scheduling when we're going to get it in case we feel sick afterwards.

(My wife and boys tend to get hit hard by them. My oldest is in university and my youngest is in high school. We can't schedule it right when they have a huge test or project.)

@luckytran me, my husband and 2 of my boys got our boosters on Friday night. I didn’t think to take a selfie. I will next year, I promise! I’ll take a selfie when I get my flu vaccine next week! :)

@luckytran No selfie here, unfortunately. But got the first appointment I could when they were rolled out. Vaxx'd and masked AF and proud of it!
