Jesus the TERF to full fledged Nazi pathway is a greased up one aint it. That was fast.
Ever has it been so, but Joanne's always had that Nazi streak about her. Remember, the goblins were a woefully anti-Semitic caricature from the very first book, and the preservation of the boring, discriminatory, hateful Status Quo turned out to be the thing that Harry Was Destined to Do.

I couldn't even get past book 3, never mind watch the films, and I'm a glutton for punishment.

I will admit, I got a bit further (not much, and only because others insisted- I think I tapped out in book 5, or at the end of 4). I missed a lot of the iconography, but the 'right to rule' was absolutely inescapable and troubling.
Really, though, it was the deus ex machina, bad plots, forced idiocy, and bad writing. Be prouder if I'd picked up more on the hatred.
The disgust, then hatred, of her personally came later for me.

@theogrin @hannu_ikonen @toyotabedzrock Don't remember a single Jewish person in Harry Potter books - sorry. This is like when you analyse at a school a Shakespeare play and have to say what you thought he was thinking with those lines so you make up something believable but nobody really knows .

@toyotabedzrock @theogrin @hannu_ikonen So what does a goblin look like? This is from a game. looking at loads of images of goblins going back in time pointed noses were featured in most. You can even buy them for wargamers.

@hannu_ikonen @toyotabedzrock I’ve always thought the TERF term was weird, because these guys center transwomen in everything they do and say. Exclusion would be a blessing compared to this ravenous obsession. Whisper the word “trans” and it’s like blasting on a dogwhistle.
And honestly there’s not much radical feminism going on, either. Just a lot of vulvagazing.
@WhiteCatTamer TERFery started out as a fringe thing among UK radical separatist feminists in the mid-1970s. The term stuck in the UK, but today most of the transphobes are anti-feminist right-wing males. Hence the newer term, "Gender Critical", which they invented (and which proves they don't know what gender even *is* or they wouldn't use it that way).
@cstross @WhiteCatTamer I just refer to them as "terves" because they haven't earned the "F".
In my part of the world I first became aware of them when one of their number wrote an opinion piece which crossed right over into antisemitism... so this latest outrage is completely unsurprising.
