How painful is cellulitis? I keep seeing ERs prescribing opioids (with or without abx) with the ICD-10 code for cellulitis. When I had MRSA ~18yrs ago, they didn't send me home with *any* pain med and it had to be lanced (twice, but that's another story)

(to be clear, I'm not refusing to fill them or putting any other barriers in the way of the patient picking them up. I'm just wondering if we are continuing to overuse opioids on these instances)
@geekpharm Depends on severity, obviously, but opioids seem like overkill. Makes a difference if they needed to incision and drain an abscess vs a non-purulent, but I mostly see NSAIDs, if anything.
@pharmouscist I'm just a retail pharmacist so I obviously don't have access to charts or anything, but that's how I feel, too. It seems like overkill, and yet it happens over and over
@geekpharm You're not *just* a retail pharmacist. You're the face of pharmacy to the world. If patients took their meds like they should (and PBMs let them get them), ideally, less of them would end up in the hospital.
