Stanford Univ President Tessier-Lavigne will resign after an investigative report found he co-authored papers with “serious flaws", oversaw labs that had an “unusual frequency” of manipulations of data & failed to correct mistakes on multiple occasions.
Stanford's student newspaper published one of the most serious allegations. The paper reported that Tessier-Lavigne "co-authored a paper on Alzheimer’s that contained falsified data & allegedly 1/3
kept the problems “from becoming public.”
Though a review panel did not find that he engaged in fraud, Tessier said he knew of issues with four of the five papers in which he was the lead author, but acknowledged taking “insufficient” steps to rectify the problems. He says that 3 scientific papers will be retracted and two corrected.
Wonder how much more quickly this process would have proceeded had such allegations been made against a student? Tessier-Lavigne was made 2/3
aware of several errors in papers in late 2015!! https://tinyurl.com/mr2etzw7
