If you are a college administrator, and you cannot handle student protests during the last few weeks of classes before summer break, it's time to find a new job.
Seriously, that's not a failure, it's a damned moral collapse, a complete abdication of all responsibility to your students.
It's especially sad to see it happen at Columbia, which used to have a good journalism school. It won't after this, that's what happens when you choose the governor over your students.
@UncivilServant Like what happened in Illinois after what they did to Steve Salaita.
@UncivilServant We'll see. The dean (Jelani Cobb) was literally locked in the Pulitzer building during the second crackdown, and hasn't had time to put much of a response together yet, but something's gotta give one way or another.
@UncivilServant Even the squares who reflexively surmise that 'it'll blow over' are kinda hopping on how the admins are refusing to let things blow over, it's kind of amazing.
@UncivilServant exactly. To me the reason students are protesting is irrelevant. It doesn't matter if I agree with them or think their cause is ridiculous. Everyone in this country should have the right to peacefully protest, but obviously we don't.
