Sand Hill Thicket

Going to dye some today. I can tell by the angle of the sun the leaves will start to fade soon. So, I'm dropping everything to get this done before I don’t! I'm NOT ready for autumn! 😫

I am glad I heeded the advice to simmer the leaves outside. Stinky! 😜

So, 30 minutes or so of simmering the leaves and then I'm just going to turn the stove off and let it sit there.

Now I'm raw in small batches of 2 to 3 ounces at a time, for a total of approximately 8 ounces.

After the scoured has been rinsed and squeezed out, I mixed a bath of about 20% alum (aluminum sulfate) to the weight of fiber, submerged my wet fiber in the mordant bath, and I'm keeping it all heated to around 180°F for 45 minutes.

It's hot today, so the will dry fast. I rinsed it 5 or 6 times, dye was still coming out. Not sure what color yellow I would call this? 🤔

@Goimbla It should be some sort of green color. I'm going to wash and mordant my wool here in a little bit and dye the wool this evening.
