Apparently someone incredible has set up a bot to automatically post my Twitter posts here.
Who knew?
Maybe I don't have to use a cross-posting app after all if I just boost the bot posts.
Whoever you are, thank you, thank you!
And @battlingbeaver tells me I should have introduced myself before I just jump in and start posting.
Sorry! I'm Tara. I'm an infectious diseases researcher and Associate Prof at the University of Toronto, and I'm the lead of COVID-19 Resources Canada.
We do the Canadian COVID Forecast, Canadian COVID data reporting, the Canadian Excess Mortality Tracker, and of course, COVID Conversation Zoom sessions supported by me and other volunteer scientists.
It's great to be here at last!
@MoriartyLab Glad you're here, Tara, leading the good fight!
@MoriartyLab wonderful to see familiar covid education names showing up here
@MoriartyLab thank you for all you do. The disinformation must be so challenging.
Tara! We’re so glad you’re here.
Welcome to the nicer place. There’s a bit of a learning curve, but if you need help navigating, just ask. Lots of us are happy to lend a hand.
Follow @feditips for great advice on getting started in this environment.
Oh, and including hashtags in your posts like #Introduction (for the post above) and #Covid and #science will help people find your posts, since hashtags are the way posts are indexed here.
@MoriartyLab we are really happy you’re here at last Tara! I, for one, look forward to your posts and the insights you bring to help us understand what’s really going on with the pandemic.
@MoriartyLab it's OK to write introductions whenever you want and have something to introduce. Don't listen to boring orderkeepers (unless they have interesting things to say).
@MoriartyLab welcome! Great to see you here!
@MoriartyLab Welcome to Mastodon! I follow you on Twitter, but who knows how long that'll even be around...
Welcome, Dr. Moriarty! Deeelighted to see you here.
To those who follow:

Dr. Moriarty is an infectious diseases researcher at the University of #Toronto and a top-notch follow!
@MoriartyLab So glad to see you. This is a much pleasanter place!
@MoriartyLab welcome! So glad to find you here!!
Welcome!
I'm so glad you are finally here; you were one of the last reasons I was still on Twitter. Thank you so much for all you do!
@MoriartyLab Happy to follow you here as well. Thanks so much for all you and your team do.
@MoriartyLab welcome Tara. You might want to consider pinning your intro (and throw in an #Introduction hashtag for good measure).
That way people browsing your profile will see it right away.
And long time (and not so long) Mastodon users use that hashtag to find new people.
@MoriartyLab Welcome! I’m grateful to have found you here. (I think you’ll enjoy this place.)
@MoriartyLab So glad that you’re here! Welcome!
@MoriartyLab Welcome to Mastodon, Tara!
Glad to have you!
@MoriartyLab Wow. Hello. Do you think Canada will loan you to us for a bit?
